The Cañon City River Whitewater Park focused on revitalizing the river ecosystem while enhancing recreational opportunities. Calibre’s Whitewater Team undertook the challenge of converting a concrete channel into a vibrant, natural waterway featuring rounded granite boulders, dynamic natural rapids, and dedicated areas for surfing and kayaking. Unique engineering solutions, such as strategically placed boulders and a multi-stage channel design, improved fish habitats while facilitating effective fish passage.
This project not only beautified the river corridor by removing debris and restoring native vegetation but also created a significant recreational attraction for locals and visitors alike. The enhanced river experience, complete with connected trails and play areas for children, fosters community engagement and promotes outdoor activity, underscoring Calibre’s commitment to delivering value through sustainable engineering solutions that benefit both the environment and the community.
