In July 2018, Englewood faced unprecedented 100-year flooding events that severely impacted three major basins, leading to significant damage and community loss. In response, Calibre was hired to conduct a comprehensive study in this flood-prone area, covering extensive hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. Our services included advanced 2D modeling to identify expanded flood hazard areas and the development of a prioritized Capital Improvement Program.

Calibre also conducted a universal floodproofing study, analyzing various techniques and compiling a go-to manual for residents. Our modeling improved the accuracy of runoff timing and peak flow calculations, while our extensive public outreach ensured community engagement throughout the process. By prioritizing both short-term and long-term solutions, Calibre delivered significant flood hazard reduction strategies that enhance public safety and resilience, ultimately adding immense value to the community’s infrastructure and well-being.
