The Houston Swiftwater Training Facility is being developed as a state-of-the-art training center designed to enhance water rescue capabilities for emergency responders. Covering 27 acres, this state-of-the-art, $65 million facility will feature a 25,000-square-foot building that includes a large swift-water channel, a 2.2-acre dive and flatwater training pond, and an urban flood rescue simulator. The simulator will utilize powerful pumps to create controlled flood conditions within a mock village, allowing rescue personnel to train in realistic urban environments.
Calibre is leading the project with a focus on collaboration, conducting design workshops, and ensuring the facility aligns with community needs. Through advanced engineering solutions and a strong emphasis on sustainability, the facility will serve as a crucial training ground, enhancing safety and preparedness in water-based emergencies. This impactful project will not only benefit Houston’s first responders but also contribute to community resilience in the face of floods and other water-related incidents.
