Calibre’s Whitewater Team collaborated with McMillen Associates, the City of Boise, and Farmer’s Union Diversion to transform a failing rubble dam into a state-of-the-art adjustable diversion and head gate structure that serves as a whitewater park. This park’s unique design lowers flood elevations during high water events. It includes an adjustable surfing wave renowned for its height and power, making it suitable for both river surfing and freestyle competitions on national and international levels.
The park also boasts an intermediate and a beginner freestyle structure, which has garnered acclaim for its design. Idaho River Sports utilizes these features for instruction, boogie boarding, and stand-up surfing, while the public enjoys the park for freestyle activities, skills development, slalom practice, and general recreation. This project enhances river recreation and addresses safety and environmental concerns associated with traditional irrigation structures.
